ACUPUNCTURE

Treatments will last about 30-45 minutes and involve the insertion of ultra-thin sterile, disposable needles. Blair will treat your symptoms and treatments are aimed to rectify the root of the disharmony. Acupuncture is a relaxing process, and most people experience feelings of calm and well-being post-treatment. Please eat sensibly and avoid caffeine a few hours before your appointment

Herbal Medicine

Dr. Blair only uses high quality herbs that are thoroughly tested for your safety. Herbs can be used alone or in combination with Acupuncture and is a very safe and effective form of treatment. Each customized formula will contain anywhere from 3-15 herbs either in pill, powder or tincture form. Herbs are prescribed for a duration of 3-4 weeks and may be modified or re-prescribed as needed.

Tongue and Dynamic Pulse diagnosis

Special attention is focused on observating the shape, color and coating on your tongue to gather information about your health. Feeling the pulse in both the radial arteries for certain qualities and movement will also reveal information about your health and treatment needs.

essential oils

Essential oils can be used in topical blends on the meridians in conjunction with the Acupuncture.

The essential oils are absorbed into the body and ingested through the respiratory system to provide balance and wellness.

Qi Gong

Focused breathing exercises called Qi Gong can dramatically increase the speed at which you heal. It is a form of meditation used for stress relief, detoxification and prevention. These simple exercises are easy to incorporate into your daily routine.

Moxabustion

During the acupuncture treatment, moxabustion is often used to stimulate the acupuncture points with heat in the form of a combustible herb known as Mugwort Root. This will gently warm the points and will compliment the acupuncture treatment in its balancing and tonifying effect.

AcuGraph

Digital Meridian Imaging will be used during the initial consultation and between treatments to give a clear picture of your bodies balance and treatment progress. The meridians of acupuncture are measured with a probe gently pressed to the skin and data will be analysed to create a graph of your body’s energy. These graphs are useful in educating you about your body’s initial condition as well as in tracking the healing progression.

Cupping

Is the use of glass or plastic suction cups that relax and stretch tight muscles and “open up” areas of congestion to draw out toxins and pathogens.

Diet and lifestyle

Blair will recommend certain foods to incorporate into your diet and certain foods and substances to avoid. This will be dictated according to the season and your body’s conditon. These adjustments to your diet will compliment your treatments and have a positive effect on your health and well-being.

Organic Chinese Herbs

Organic herbs are grown without chemical pesticides or chemical fertilizers.

Spring Wind is certified by California Certified Organic Farmers (CCOF) and all their organic products are compliant with the USDA NOP (National Organic Program). Their organic herbs also go through an  independent pesticide screening. We whole-heartedly support organic farming not only for the purity of the herbs but for the benefit it provides for the people doing the farming and for the environment in general. We feel the holistic approach to healing that characterizes Chinese medicine begins with an attitude that treats the earth with respect and the realization that the health of the environment and the health of the body are not separate. organicchineseherbs.ca
